profusion presenting at PyCon USA '09
talk will discuss development of embedded software using high-level languages
PyCon US, the annual US Python community conference announced the accepted talks for 2009 and it includes a talk by ProFUSION’s owner and software architect Gustavo Sverzut Barbieri.
His talk entitled Python enabling mobile media centers will cover development of embedded software using high level languages as Python: the benefits, the problems and the solutions. As said in the talk proposal:
How python saved the day of a small group of developers having to write a complex media center software for a mobile system in less than 4 months. Talk covers use of Python in embedded systems, the Nokia/Maemo platform, using bindings of the Enlightenment Foundation Libraries (EFL) to run fancy and fast graphical "iPhone-like" user applications on that platform, proving that it is a viable platform for such low end systems. Final software Canola2 was delivered on time with excellent user experience, a real iPod Touch contender!
